What Are Vehicle Inspections?

what to do after a recall is issued

What is a Vehicle Inspection?

It is important that you have your vehicle inspected by trained technicians who are familiar with all of the guidelines in the state. In order to have your vehicle registration renewed, the car must pass the biennial smog check based on requirements dependent on your zip code. This check is mandatory for any out-of-state vehicle along with a VIN inspection at the time of registration.

During the smog check or emissions test, the vehicle is measured for carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, and nitrogen oxide levels that are emitted. The inspector will take the time to do a gas cap pressure check, on-board diagnostics test, an inspection and maintenance test, and a single idle speed test.

In order to pass the emissions test, your vehicle should be well-maintained and also function at peak performance levels. We can help you address a variety of maintenance and service needs in our state-of-the-art RAM truck collision center near National City, staffed by trained technicians. We use all of the latest equipment and technology so that you know your vehicle is always in good hands.

Note: Biennial testing in the State of California is not required for some vehicles, including hybrids, motorcycles, electric cars, and vehicles that were made in or prior to 1975, and newer vehicles that are under six years old. To learn more about other exemptions, all you have to do is contact our service team at Sunroad Collision Center.
